You’ve invested in premium MOSHAKHA microfibre towels. You’ve experienced the 1200 GSM drying power and the 800 GSM plushness. Now, how do you make sure they stay that way?
Microfibre is a high-tech fabric, and treating it like cotton or polyester can ruin its unique properties instantly. Here are the Golden Rules of Microfibre Care.
Rule #1: No Heat!
Heat is the enemy. Microfibre covers are made of polyester and polyamide, which are plastics.
- Washing: Wash on Cold or Warm (max 40°C). Never hot.
- Drying: Air dry is best. If you must use a dryer, use the Lowest Heat setting or “Air Fluff.” High heat melts the fibers, turning your soft towel into a scratchy plastic sheet.
Rule #2: No Softeners!
Fabric softeners work by clogging the fibers of a fabric to make them feel slick.
- The Problem: If you clog the microscopic split-ends of your microfibre, it can no longer absorb water or trap dirt. It becomes useless.
- The Fix: Use a dedicated microfibre detergent or a “Free & Clear” liquid detergent with no scents or softeners.
Rule #3: Wash Separately
Microfibre is designed to grab lint, dust, and hair. If you wash your premium towels with your cotton bath towels or denim jeans, your microfibres will “attack” the cotton lint effectively pulling it all out and trapping it forever.
- Always wash microfibre loads separately from other laundry.
- Separate your dirty wheel/engine towels from your clean paint/drying towels to prevent cross-contamination.
The Perfect Wash Routine
- Inspect: Shake out your towels to remove loose debris.
- Soak: If towels are heavily soiled with polish or wax, soak them in a bucket with microfibre detergent for 30 mins.
- Machine Wash:
- Cycle: Gentle/Delicate
- Temp: Warm
- Detergent: Free & Clear / Dedicated Microfibre Wash
- Add 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to the rinse cycle (helps release trapped residue and keeps them soft).
- Dry: Hang dry indoors or tumble dry on NO HEAT.
Follow these rules, and your MOSHAKHA towels will perform like new for hundreds of washes!
